Delighted that we were able to invest 2 of our Scouts whilst at Oesechinensee last week on the final day of our Swiss Alps adventure in Kandersteg.

Switzerland 2026 – Day 6 Recap – Friday
Friday was our last full day in Kandersteg. We visited Oeschinensee which is an amazing high-alititude mountain lake, accessed by a cable car from within Kandersteg village.
After the cable car, the Scouts had multiple trips of the mountain coaster before walking to the lake for lunch and investitures (special post later today!).
As the weather was perfect we took part in a very steep and challenging hike back down the mountain to the campsite to begin the packup of our tents.

Switzerland 2026 – Day 5 Recap – Thursday
Thursday was the highlight of the week for our Scouts. We visited Brigerbad Waterpark which is a short train and bus ride away from Kandersteg.
We had time to explore Brig for getting on the bus to Brigerbad.
The water park is huge with several different pools and a water slide that starts half-way up the mountain.
We had a camp birthday to celebrate on Thursday too and all enjoyed a meal together at Hotel des Alpes in Kandersteg, a short walk from the campsite.

Switzerland 2026 – Day 3 Recap – Tuesday
On Tuesday we visited Adelboden Adventure Park for a day of mega zip lines and pendulum jumps from the bridge.
There were several zip line courses, some of them 350m long across the valley and everyone had loads of fun.

Switzerland 2026 – Day 2 Recap – Monday
Monday was our local day, so we had a more leisurely start with breakfast at Kandersteg International Scout Centre before walking into the town to explore Kandersteg, go shopping, and eat ice creams!
We visited the local swimming pool and spent a few hours there before making our way back to the campsite where the Scouts took part in badge swapping and sports games with others from all around the world.
On Monday evenings in the summer season, KISC hosts an international BBQ in front of the Chalet. We had a great time joining in with this.

Switzerland 2026 – Day 1 Recap – Sunday
Early start at Heathrow for our short flight to Heathrow! Once at Geneva we collected bags and then headed to McDonalds for lunch, and then onto the first of our trains that would take us to Bern, connecting with the train to Kandersteg.
The first train was a large double decker and we had an upstairs section reserved for us with plenty of seats. At Bern we only had 10 minutes to get our huge group with bags across platforms for the local train to Kandersteg, challenging but we managed.
We arrived in Kandersteg around 18:30, where Giles and Liam helped us transport the bags using the minbus. The rest of the group had a short walk to the campsite through the town with stunning scenery!
When we arrived at Kandersteg International Scout Centre we were just in time for dinner and to join the international evening celebrations/party outside the Chalet. The Scouts took some convincing back to the site where we finished setting up our tents and had an early night ready for a busy Monday.

It’s not just about learning to paddle, sail or row

By providing opportunities to get afloat, we help children develop skills that they will keep with them and use throughout their working life and beyond – leadership, teamwork, problem solving and flexibility.
During the summer months we kayak, row, sail and learn to drive powerboats… it’s great fun!
Keeping young people safe
Wherever we go and whatever we do, we put young people’s safety and wellbeing first.
Young people thrive in secure surroundings, at home and away. Wherever we go, we’re serious about keeping them safe.

Our values
As Scouts we live by the values of Scouting.
They underpin everything we do, how we act and the way we treat each other.
